By the end of the decade, it's expected that 30 percent of South Korean companies will be using artificial intelligence.
Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy opened a c
ommittee Friday on the digital transformation, and announced strategies to internalize AI in industries. Currently only one-point-six percent of firms in the manufacturing industry use AI, and the ministry said the digital transformation is proceeding slowly.
The government will inject one billion won or about 800 million dollars into each of five AI-related projects this year, and expand the budget for these areas next year.
Also, it plans to nurture more than 100 globally competitive companies that can supply AI technology.
