Good afternoon. Heavy snow in the east of Gangwon-do Province has let up leaving a number of weather-related incidents reported in the area over the weekend.
Now the greater issue is frigid temperatures. Drive carefully out on the roads. Cold wave alerts were issued again for some upper parts of the country, morning temperatures were 2 to 9 degrees lower this morning. Those of us in central regions need to dress extra warmly today, it was only last Friday that we saw double-digit highs in the capital but it will remain below freezing all day and sharp winds will make feels-like temperatures a lot colder.
Southern provinces will see highs going down only a couple of degrees, Busan topping out at 7 degrees, Gwangju colder at 2 degrees but finally seeing some bright skies nationwide with decent air quality.
The cold snap eases as the week goes on then Thursday's precipitation brings even colder air to the country and it looks to be a freezing Seollal holiday this year.
