South Korea's KF-21 fighter jet has successfully flown at supersonic speed, reaching a new milestone in the development of the country's indigenous aircraft.
According to the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, a KF-21 prototype su
rpassed the speed of sound -- Mach 1, or about 12-hundred kilometers per hour --for the first time on Tuesday. It took off from Sacheon Air Base and flew at an altitude of about 4-thousand feet over the country's southern waters.
Since 2015, Seoul has been developing its own military aircraft using domestic technology.
It aims to start mass producing the KF-21 from 2026.
