Amidst the global economic downturn in 2022, worldwide shipments of smartphones declined to the lowest level in a decade.
According to leading global technology market analyst firm Canalys, shipments of smartphones for 2022 declined by 11 percent to fewer than 1-point-2 billion units.
Experts say smartphone vendors have struggled in a difficult macroeconomic environment as they approach 2023 cautiously after their worst fourth-quarter performance in a decade.
Data for full-year growth shows Samsung had the greatest market share with 22 percent, Apple ranked second with 19 percent, and Xiaomi remained in third place with 13 percent.
